Emperor Coins & Collectibles is both an online store and a virtual numismatic museum. Owned and operated by Roy Pope of Mobile, Alabama, all items on display in the pages of Emperor Coins & Collectibles are from my personal collections which I have been building for more than fifteen years.
Though I thoroughly enjoy collecting coins, my real hobby lies in the cleaning and preservation of old and ancient collectibles with emphasis on ancient coins. It is truly a fun and rewarding experience for me to pick and scrape carefully through layers of dirt and rock to reveal a piece of history that has been hidden away from man's eyes for more than a thousand years.
Sell me your uncleaned coins
I am open to solicitation by email, using the Contact Form on this site, of offers to sell me uncleaned ancient coins from nearly all places across the world. I prefer to purchase uncleaned ancient coins in lots of 1,000 to 5,000 coins per lot, but will consider smaller lots as long as the prices are reasonable and the coins are of acceptable quality.
Once I have cleaned the coins, they will be placed for display here in the pages of Emperor Coins & Collectibles. Some will be offered for sale. Those that aren't offered for sale will be the ones that I hold for future display in a brick-and-mortar ancient coin museum that I have been working towards opening in Mobile, Alabama.
My selling prices are competitively reasonable in comparison to what others are asking, and are usually just enough to compensate me for the long hours and diligent efforts that I put into the cleaning and preservation processes of my coins. All proceeds from the sale of coins on this site are earmarked for future use in establishing that brick-and-mortar ancient coin musem.
If you have a large lot of uncleaned ancient coins that you'd like to offer for sale to me, please use the Contact Form on this site to make your offer. I'd really like to hear from you.
What I don't want to buy
While it can be really difficult to control, at times, when working with uncleaned ancient coins, these are some of the things that I definitely am not interested in purchasing from anybody at any time:
- Coins that have been "partially cleaned". The more original dirt they have on them, the better they are to me and my hobby.
- Large quantities of coins that are obviously broken. Sure, broken coins can oftentimes clean up to look really attractive (sometimes better than the non-broken ones), but I still want to steer clear of them if at all possible. It's okay for some to be broken, but I don't ever want a hoard of broken coins to land in my lap.
- Holed cash coins from China. There's just way too many fakes out there for me to be interested in these trinkets.
- Counterfeits! I know how to tell the difference, so don't try to unload these on me unless I specifically request them. Otherwise - fair warning - I will promptly notify the authorities in the United States, and in the country of origin where the coins are shipped from, of the trafficking in counterfeit coins and antiquities.
